Frequently Asked Questions

I want to renovate my home. Where do I start?

Contact Dyet Designs! Finding a contractor is the first step in the right direction, so you have come to right place! We care about the growth and healthy development of the project, and will continue to take all the required steps to ensure that you are comfortable every step of the way.

How many years of experience do you have?

Dyet Designs was established by owner Steve Dyet in 1990.

What cities and towns do you operate in?

We mainly operate in Cambridge and Guelph but also complete projects in the surrounding areas. Contact us if you are unsure if we work in your city.

Is it important to know my budget for the project?

Yes! Having an initial grasp of your budget allows us to design within a context. Our designs and plans are customized based on your project needs. We create a rough estimate of what a project may cost before construction begins and we need to have a realistic sense of your budget so there are no unexpected surprises. Time can be wasted by considering possibilities that you may not be able to afford instead of focusing on how to bring your vision to life within the resources that you have.

How soon can you start?

We typically book about a month in advance, depending on our availability. This also depends on the type of work that you are looking to have done. Plans, permits, and drawings can take approximately 3 months to complete, and this will need to be done for larger projects and remodels prior to scheduling a start date. We can assist you with this process if needed!

How long do renovations take?

This is dependent on the type and size of the project. Small projects can range from a few days to a few weeks, whereas larger projects can be between 2 - 4 months, or more. You will be able to discuss your time frame with Dyet Designs and we will provide you with an idea based on what you want done.

Will I need a permit?

If you are looking to make major structural changes, such as additions or a full remodel of your home, then you will likely need a permit. If your renovations are mostly decorative or aesthetic in natural, you will not likely require a permit. This is something that Dyet Designs will be happy to help you navigate.

Does your company have insurance?

Yes, we are covered through WSIB as well as have liability insurance for our employees. This protects our employees, as well as you.
